Katedra vyvíja pedagogickú činnosť v oblastiach základov informatiky, programovania, práce s databázovými systémami, tabuľkovými procesormi, údajovými štruktúrami, operačných systémov, techník programovania a návrhu rozsiahlych softvérových systémov. Vedeckovýskumnú činnosť orientuje na problematiku tvorby informačných a riadiacich systémov pre dopravu, vývoj distribuovaných informačných systémov, databázových prostriedkov, skúmanie spoľahlivosti systémov, dolovanie znalostí, aplikácií pre vysokovýkonné výpočty a špecializovaných programových prostriedkov. Vo výskumnej práci katedra spolupracuje s ostatnými katedrami a fakultami Žilinskej univerzity a s fakultami mnohých slovenských univerzít.

20-22 June 2023 International Workshop on Reliability and Safety (https://idt.conf.sk/centre/index.php). The
International Workshop on Reliability and Safety is organized under the
support of Visegrad Grant Programme of the International Visegrad Fund
by the project Exchange Reliability and Safety Experience in the V4
region(ERaSEV4) with reg.no. 22230200. Collaboration between academic
staff, representatives of enterprises, and young researchers in the
areas of Reliability and Safety will be established at this event. The
modern trends of teaching and research aspects of the RaS will be
discussed at the workshop. The conception of the RaS network in V4 will
be discussed and clarified.

13-15 November 2022 The Second International Workshop on Reliability Engineering and Computational Intelligence (https://ki.fri.uniza.sk/RECI2022/about.html). The
workshop RECI 2022 will be a hybrid event: we facilitate contributions
in-person and online from Delft University of Technology and the
University of Zilina. The abstracts of the presentations will be
published in the book of abstracts, which will be available on the
website of the workshop.

The evaluation of these contributions will address the innovation/originality of the industrial application, the quality of presentation, and the technical interest to the community working in that field.
