FRI UNIZA Signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the National Center for Quantum Technologies – QUTE.sk
The Faculty of Management and Informatics of the University of Žilina continues to advance the field of quantum computing. Prof. Ing. Emil Kršák, PhD., dean of the faculty, and Assoc. Prof. Mgr. Mário Ziman, PhD., chair of the executive committee of the National Center for Quantum Technologies – QUTE.sk, signed a memorandum of cooperation on Friday, October 2, 2026, which paves the way for joint education and research in the field of quantum computing and quantum technologies. The first concrete result of this collaboration will be the joint teaching of selected courses in quantum computing, which will be offered in the summer semester of the 2026/27 academic year.
The signing comes at a time when the faculty is making significant progress in the field of quantum computing. FRI UNIZA has the first academic desktop quantum computer in Slovakia and launched a new specialization, “Quantum Computing,” this academic year. The collaboration with QUTE.sk will strengthen this specialization by drawing on the expertise of individuals who have been actively developing quantum technologies in Slovakia for many years.
QUTE.sk is an interest group of legal entities that coordinates and supports research and education in the field of quantum technologies in Slovakia. It operates in three key areas: scientific research (iQUTE), applied research (netQUTE), and education and outreach (eduQUTE). It also organizes the QUTE Summer School on quantum technologies, which was attended by students and staff from the FRI UNIZA in August 24–28, 2026. The faculty expects that the collaboration with QUTE.sk will bring new opportunities for students and strengthen its position in both Slovak and international quantum research.
