Guest Lectures from the Field in the Course "Information Network Security"
The Department of Information Networks invites you to a series of guest lectures by industry experts as part of the Information Network Security (BIS) course. The lectures will take place from the 7th to the 12th week of the semester, every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in room RC009.
The speakers will address topics they encounter daily when building and operating corporate networks. The lectures will cover a range of interesting topics: from public key infrastructure (PKI) to identity and access management (IAM), cloud security, security challenges posed by AI, and a comprehensive overview of enterprise security. This is an opportunity to see how the theory from the lectures and hands-on exercises is applied in real-world deployments and to ask questions directly of the people who design and manage these solutions.
Program:
November 3, 2026 – PKI with Practical Deployment Examples
Ing. Martin Dvorský, Senior Network Security Engineer, Slovanet
The central theme of the lecture will be public key infrastructure (PKI) as the foundation of trust in digital communication. He will explain how certification authorities and digital certificates work, as well as their lifecycle from issuance to revocation, and why proper PKI configuration is crucial for the security of the entire organization.
November 24, 2026 – Identity & Access Management: The Invisible Pillar of Cybersecurity
Vladimír Bartošík, Cybersecurity Architect, APG - Austrian Power Grid
This presentation will introduce Identity & Access Management (IAM) as a vital component of cybersecurity. It will explain how organizations manage digital identities and access permissions, why proper management is important, and what security risks arise when it is neglected. Using practical examples, it will illustrate the main principles of IAM, the challenges faced by large organizations, and its role in modern cybersecurity.
December 1, 2026 – AI Network Firewall
Tomáš Vobruba, Lead Security Engineer, Check Point Software Technologies
This presentation will introduce the concept of the AI Network Firewall and explain why traditional network and security controls are insufficient to protect modern AI environments. We will demonstrate how communication occurs between users, AI applications, models, databases, MCP servers, and external services; what new risks the AI ecosystem introduces; and how attackers can exploit the trust between individual components.Participants will learn about real-world attack scenarios, such as prompt injection, exploitation of AI agents, compromise of MCP servers, leakage of sensitive data through AI applications, and an attacker’s lateral movement within AI infrastructure.
December 8, 2026 – Cloud Security
Michal Mikušík, NSA-Certified Cybersecurity Architect for Cloud & AI, Vivicta
The security of cloud environments is one of the most pressing areas of cybersecurity. The presentation will discuss the risks organizations face when migrating applications and data to the cloud and how to protect the cloud environment at all levels—from the provider’s infrastructure through Kubernetes clusters and containers to the code itself. It will demonstrate how to apply the principle of least privilege in the cloud, how to focus on truly critical risks instead of a flood of alerts, and how to integrate security into development from the very beginning.
December 15, 2026 – Enterprise Security – Overall Overview
Vladimír Hirner, Cybersecurity Advisor | Account Manager, Check Point Software Technologies
This presentation will offer a cross-section of the technologies that make up enterprise infrastructure security today, from network and endpoint protection to incident monitoring and response. It will demonstrate how the individual layers of protection fit together and why security cannot function without processes and people.
The lectures are primarily intended for students enrolled in the BIS course, but other students and faculty members interested in network security are also welcome. We look forward to seeing you there!
