Missing Maps Mapathon Žilina #24
The 24th Missing Maps Mapathon in Žilina will take place in person at the Faculty of Management and Informatics, at the University of Žilina in Žilina, Room RB108, as well as online via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This time, we will be mapping in Nigeria. The organization Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières – MSF) has been carrying out activities in the city of Kano for several years. These activities include, among other things, nutritional care, operating outpatient clinics, and maternal health care. It also provides assistance in the form of emergency responses (e.g., during outbreaks of diphtheria, Lassa fever, etc.). At the mapathon, we’ll help improve geographic data so that our colleagues at MSF can better support their operational activities.
The Mapathon (mapping marathon) is open to the general public, and admission is free. Together, we’ll create a digital map based on satellite imagery. If you have no experience with remote mapping, don’t worry. You’ll learn everything on-site. After a short training session on the iD editor, you’ll be able to start mapping on your own. We also warmly invite experienced mappers who no longer need training and just want to map without interruption.
