Our colleagues have won the prestigious 'Woman in IT' and 'IT Student of the Year' awards
On 23 September, the civic association Aj Ty v IT ceremoniously announced the winners of the prestigious 'Woman in IT' award at the Jurkovič Heating Plant in Bratislava.
The winner of the main 'Woman in IT' category, according to the expert jury, is our colleague Prof. Ing. Elena Zaitseva, PhD., from the Department of Informatics. The 'IT Student of the Year' award was won by our successful graduate of the Applied Informatics doctoral programme, Ing. Lucia Piatriková, PhD., who researched the use of artificial intelligence in the analysis of histological images during her studies.
Girls definitely belong in IT, which is proven by the growing number of girls studying in the informatics-oriented study programmes at the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics, UNIZA. For example, in the 'Informatics and Management' bachelor's programme, 19.2% of the students are girls, and in the 'Biomedical Informatics' master's (engineering) programme, that figure is as high as 34.6%.
We warmly congratulate both of our colleagues on receiving this prestigious award and wish them much further success, not only in IT and research, but also in their personal lives.
