Procedure for Closing the Academic Year 2025/2026
Dear students,
The exam period has begun, so please allow us to briefly inform you about the exam schedule and the process of finalizing your academic year.
Please note that all grades are recorded exclusively in the electronic education system, where you can view your status of completed courses in a clear and organized format.
The academic year will be finalized exclusively through the electronic system. To finalize the academic year, after taking your last exam of this academic year and verifying that all your grades are recorded in the electronic system, please send an email to the Academic Affairs Office:
In the email, state that you are requesting to complete the academic year, clearly indicating whether you are requesting advancement to the next academic year or repeating the academic year due to insufficient credits (see methodological guidelines).
The deadline for submitting a request to close the academic year (to electronically request the academic advisor to close the year, repeat the year, or withdraw from studies) is July 3, 2026.
First-year bachelor’s students who decide to change their study program must also submit a completed and signed request to change programs (scan/photo from a mobile phone to studref@fri.uniza.sk). Changes to study programs will be reviewed in August, subject to available capacity.
We also remind students of their obligation under the study regulations—to submit a request to complete the academic year—and this obligation applies to all students of the faculty regardless of whether they will continue to the next academic year. Those students who will not continue their studies must complete (also by the deadline of July 3, 2026) an application to withdraw from their studies and send it, completed, signed (with the date “August 31, 2026” added at the bottom in Žilina), and unscanned, to the Academic Affairs Office (studref@fri.uniza.sk).

NOTE: This announcement does not apply to students taking state exams in June 2026. These students have different instructions and deadlines, which have been published in the internal channels edu-fri-studenti-Bc and edu-fri-studenti-Ing on MS Teams (the deadline for completing the academic year is June 2, 2026, for them).
