During the previous week ( December 7 – 11), the first online school of the 3D printing was held at the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics of the University of Žilina. Students of the secondary schools were connected and solved the online tasks using the Microsoft Teams platform. They learned about the modelling basics, and 3D printing. They received the certificate on the end. There was a great interest for this online school. The organizers received about 180 applications. The faculty will organize other online 3D printing schools in January and February thanks this interest. 30 students from the secondary schools from different regions of Slovakia took part in this first online school. We are happy that students of the secondary schools are interested in the ICT. We wish them all the best.
We would like to thank to Mr. Lukas Cechovic from the Department of Technical Cybernetics. He was the main organizer and lecturer of the 3D printing online school. We would like to thank to our students from the Computer Engineering study programme. They supported the lectures. This 3D printing online school was organized in the frame of the national project "IT akadémia" (IT Academy).

On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics participated in the kick-off meeting of the international strategic project in higher education titled TEACH4EDU4 - Accelerating the transition to Edu 4.0 in HEIs. The meeting was hosted by the project coordinator - the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI) of the University of Zagreb. The 30-month project is funded under the Erasmus + program of the European Commission in the total amount of 296,845.00 euros.
The goal of this extremely important project is to advance higher education in the fast-growing field of computer sciences, in order to enable the teaching in line with the modern innovative world trends in hybrid and international environments and the needs of Industry 4.0.
Although the first meeting had to be held online, the partners managed to achieve the goal of getting to know the teams involved and to make the initial coordination of the activities and expected results that will enable them to explore, teach and implement the changes described as project objectives.
In addition to the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics, the partners of this project include the leading European universities in the field of computer science and related sciences and educational sciences: Faculty of Organization and Informatics (coordinator) of the University of Zagreb (Croatia), The Open University (the United Kingdom), University of Belgrade (Serbia), Tallinn University (Estonia), Universita Degli Studi Dell'Aquila (Italy), and the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (Spain).
During the project, the partners will jointly work on 5 main results and will start by creating a catalogue of innovative teaching methods and related skills in line with the needs of Industry 4.0, which will be coordinated by experts from the Open University (UK).
The contribution of the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics in this project includes the development of the Partnership Manifesto – Transferability of the developed learning design models. It means, we will coordinate the transfer of knowledge, experience to strengthen and broaden the project results beyond the project lifetime as well as to enable the transferability to other partnerships and domains.
One of the biggest expected impacts of the project will be that on higher education teachers and students from partner institutions who will gain valuable domain knowledge and unique experience of working and learning in international teams and the online environment through practical work in international online joint classrooms designed within this project.

The Virtual Teaching Mobility - Prof. Dr. Anna Sobczyk-Kolbuch from the Katowice Business University
Due to the Covid-19 disease, the Erasmus + teacher mobilities are not currently in form as we know them. An alternative solution is a virtual mobility, ie teaching from abroad online. We are glad that this possibility is used by our faculty.
In the week from 7 to 11 December 2020, the virtual guest at our faculty is prof. dr. Anna Sobczyk-Kolbuch, Vice-Dean for Foreign Relations, from the Katowice Business University. She holds her lectures and exercises within the course "Management Research". The Katowice Business University (Górnośląska Wyższa Szkoła Handlowa im. Wojciech Korfantego) is a new partner of our faculty. The bilateral agreement for Erasmus + was signed a year ago. Two colleagues from the Department of Management Theories will implement their virtual mobilities with this partner by the end of this semester.
This year, university teachers at UNIZA have the opportunity to apply for teacher mobility, both virtual and physical, on an ongoing basis. The implementation of physical mobilities is, of course, possible depending on the measures in force for the Covid-19 disease.
Similarly, the teachers from our partner institutions are invited for holding their virtual or physical mobilities at our faculty, during the summer semester (from February 22, 2021). More information will be provided by the Vice-Dean for International Relations, Faculty Coordinator Erasmus +, doc. Márton.

Our faculty is currently coordinating the international project Education of future ICT Experts based on Smart Society Needs - SmartSoc. The just ending academic year is the first of the three years of the project. The main project activity this year is still blended mobility (SmartSoc Blended Mobility 2020).
According to the original plan, the blended mobility was to end in May 2020, with a two-week meeting of all its participants (physical mobility). Due to the epidemiological situation caused by the coronavirus, it was decided in March to postpone this meeting to September. Unfortunately, in the end, the face-to-face meeting of the participants in the blended mobility cannot take place.
However, the organizing committee prepared an alternative virtual activity. This allows for the signing of an addendum to the project contract with the National Agency for the Erasmus+ Program (SAAIC).
Virtual activity - online workshop will take place from 2 to 9 September. It will be attended mainly by participants in combined mobility. However, we would also like to invite "external" participants - students, teachers, employees of partner companies, anyone who is interested in something from the online workshop programme.
As part of the virtual activity of the SmartSoc project, lectures by university teachers, presentations of student teams and their business plans and discussions on the topic of smart society and especially smart IT solutions for the present and future are prepared, in line with smart specialization strategies of EU member states and the United Nations Agenda 2030 document.
Registration of external participants for the online workshop of the SmartSoc project is possible until Friday, August 28, 2020, via the form.
The entire online workshop will take place in a group created on Microsoft Teams. External participants will be added to it based on the data from the form.

The Faculty of Management Science and Informatics continues in producing and distributing of the face shields in Slovakia. Faculty's 3D printers are still working to help all insitutions that need support during Covid-19 pandemic.
Our success story started by iniciative of our students. They created a team that was enlarged later with other faculty members - teachers and researchers. The team leader is Mr Lukas Cechovic from the Department of Technical Cybernetics. He founded earlier a 3D printer lab at the faculty. The faculty was able to reach financial support from diferent sources - different foundations. Costs for production of one face shield were 5 Euros. We are proud that we were able to gain 15 thousand Euro to produce all face shields. The majority of these financial sources was collected thanks the crowdfounding challenge. We received a grant from O2 telecommunication operator too. We would like to express our thanks to our partners: Globesy, icz Slovakia, Nadácia KIA Motors Slovakia, TransData, OFZ, a.s., QuadroTech Development, ON Semiconductor Slovakia, Scheidt&Bachmann Slovensko, GoodRequest, Kros, Siemens, Siemens Healthineers, Redhat, TopTrans EU, IT akadémia, Accenture.
Our faculty is celebrating its 30 year anniversary soon. We are happy that a lot of students, teachers and industry partners supported our activity. We received several e-mails and letter from the hospitals and other medical institutions.
