The Faculty of Management Science and Informatics continues in producing and distributing of the face shields in Slovakia. Faculty's 3D printers are still working to help all insitutions that need support during Covid-19 pandemic.
Our success story started by iniciative of our students. They created a team that was enlarged later with other faculty members - teachers and researchers. The team leader is Mr Lukas Cechovic from the Department of Technical Cybernetics. He founded earlier a 3D printer lab at the faculty. The faculty was able to reach financial support from diferent sources - different foundations. Costs for production of one face shield were 5 Euros. We are proud that we were able to gain 15 thousand Euro to produce all face shields. The majority of these financial sources was collected thanks the crowdfounding challenge. We received a grant from O2 telecommunication operator too. We would like to express our thanks to our partners: Globesy, icz Slovakia, Nadácia KIA Motors Slovakia, TransData, OFZ, a.s., QuadroTech Development, ON Semiconductor Slovakia, Scheidt&Bachmann Slovensko, GoodRequest, Kros, Siemens, Siemens Healthineers, Redhat, TopTrans EU, IT akadémia, Accenture.
Our faculty is celebrating its 30 year anniversary soon. We are happy that a lot of students, teachers and industry partners supported our activity. We received several e-mails and letter from the hospitals and other medical institutions.

Since May 2019, our faculty has been part of the Drive2TheFuture project consortium, as a third party for Eurnex association.
This project is supported in the frame of H2020, the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation. The project aims to prepare “drivers”, travellers and vehicle operators of the future to accept and use connected, cooperative and automated transport modes and the industry of these technologies to understand and meet their needs and wants.
Why is the word "driver" in quotes? Because in the future the "driver" will not have to sit directly in the vehicle. The means of transport of the future will be able to be controlled by dispatchers from the central office, or the vehicle will be driven and controled solely on the prescribed route, various automation and optimization algorithms, data from a number of sensors...

Our faculty as a part of a consortium of 12
institutions from 4 countries was successful with application for Erasmus+ K2 Capacity Building in the field of Higher
Education - Joint Projects. The
project is named as ACeSYRI (Advanced
Centre for PhD Students and Young Researchers in Informatics), and its main goal is to improve
research conditions of young researchers and PhD students in informatics
(computer science) from Kazakhstan universities based on development of
international cooperation with EU universities. Therefore, we plan to develop a
virtual portal and center in Kazakhstan in order to promote the collaboration
between the target groups: PhD students, young researchers, academic teachers.
In general, ACeSYRI allows participants to form research groups, to collaborate
with international research partners and to share information and project
results. Using ACeSYRI to collaborate will be free of charge and will be
available to students and young researchers from universities and enterprises from
Partner Countries.
The following institutions from EU countries are involved in the implementation of the project:
- University of Zilina (Zilina, Slovakia)
- University of Lodz (Lodz, Poland)
- Universite de Lorraine (Nancy, France)
