Earth Observation for Early Warning of Land Degradation at European Frontier

At the beginning of this year, the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics started work on the project "Earth Observation for Early Warning of Land Degradation at European Frontier" (EWALD) within the "European Union's Framework Program for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe - the Framework Program for Research and Innovation" (ID 101086250). 7 partner institutions from Portugal, Norway, Slovakia, Ukraine and Morocco are involved in the project. Our faculty is represented by a research group from the Department of Informatics. As part of this project, colleagues Dr. Oľga Sedlerová, Dr. Oľga Tytarenkova, Dr. Anna Kozlová and Dr. Iryna Piestová will visit our faculty this month. The main purposes of their visit are to participate in the international workshop EWALD organized as part of the IEEE IDT 2023 conference, to design the conceptual framework of the early warning system of land degradation developed under the EWALD project, as well as to prepare and present lectures on the analysis of satellite images of the Earth and the assessment of land degradation processes.
