Invited lecture by prof. Cimráka at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston

Our colleague, Professor Ivan Cimrák, together with his team, participated in a research stay at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, USA. The mobility was part of a grant that was awarded to Professor Cimrák at the beginning of 2023. It's an MIT Seed Fund grant, which supports collaboration between research groups from around the world and research groups from MIT.
Part of the stay was also an invited lecture, at which Professor Cimrák presented research results at a regular seminar organized at the Department of Material Science and Engineering, MIT. In this way, research at FRI UNIZA reached the fifth most prestigious university in the world. The continuation of the cooperation will also be a reciprocal visit when Prof. Ming Dao and Dr. Yuhao Qiang will come to our faculty.
The scientific content of the grant concerns interdisciplinary cooperation between computational simulations (FRI UNIZA) and biological experiments with microfluidic devices (MIT). Specific research is in the field of inertial targeting of the cell stream with the aim of separating cancer cells and especially their cluster groupings.
We wish Prof. Cimrák and his research team (Mrs. Monika Smiešková, Mrs. Alžbeta Bugáňová and Mr. Michal Mulík) much success in their research activities.
