On March 4, 2019, the University of Žilina signed a major partnership agreement between UNIZA and the European Commission Joint Research Center (JRC) in the field of joint doctoral studies in modeling in transport and energy. As part of this partnership, PhD students will be jointly led by UNIZA and JRC tutors and will have the opportunity to take part or all of their doctoral studies at the JRC.
At the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics UNIZA, in the framework of this partnership, we are offering the first PhD study topic in the 2019/2020 academic year: Evaluating Innovative Solutions for the European Electricity Market. The tutor of this topic is Assoc. Prof. Lubos Buzna or more information on the call and the topic, see the information leaflet and the faculty website.

Major faculty sport event in 2019 - with participation of 18 teams. Weather conditions for run were excellent, posts were very good encrypted, beer refreshment secured, and logical tasks verified knowledge of participants. Task at final post was really challenge for several teams. We congratulate to winners, they gained everlasting glory. We congratulate to all teams, they were excellent too. Of course, we would like to express our thanks for organizers and volunteers at posts.

You've spent at least two months in Žilina. Time enough to already have made some great experiences that you hopefully caught on picture.
Now, send us your nicest, funniest or simply best picture of your Erasmus stay in Žilina until the 15th of March via mail (Peter.Marton@fri.uniza.sk; by sending us your photos you give us the rights to publish them!).
Rules:
- Everybody can only send 1 picture
- Maximum 5 people are allowed to be on that photo.
- Write at least one sentence as a description and don't forget to mention your name and nationality.
On the 18th of April, we'll post the pictures in a photo album on our FB page and everybody can vote by "liking". After twelve days (on the 30th), winners will be declared (most likes wins).

We are glad that we can again offer to our students interesting lectures of Mr. Jorma Imppola from Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, Finland. Mr. Imppola is traditional hosting teacher. Cooperation between the University of Žilina and the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences has long tradition, near 20 years. Mr. Imppola will teach at the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics (FRI UNIZA) and the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications.

We are glad to inform you about invited lectures of two foreign colleagues.
Dr. Joanna Kołodziejczyk arrived in frame of Erasmus+ teaching mobility. She is from Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Informatics, West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin, Poland. She will teach our students on Wednesday, 20.02.2019 at 3 PM in frame of Metaheuristics course (room RB054). For Thursday 21.02.2019, she prepared lecture about SYSABA project - Support system for centers of behavioral therapy working with people affected by developmental disorders. This lecture will be in room RA222, at 2.30 PM.
On Friday, 22.02.2019, professor Vyacheslav Kharchenko from Department of Computer Systems, Networks and Cybersecurity, National Aerospace University„Kharkiv Aviation Institute“ KhAI, Ukraine, will hold his lecture about "Big Data, Internet of Things and Dependable Computing: Pro and Contra". This lecture will be in room RB053, at 11 AM. Prof. Kharchenko is at our faculty in frame of National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic.
